Families and Community Members,
Our community is our strength, and right now, we have a powerful opportunity to show up for our most valued families.
Due to recent administrative changes impacting the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), some of our students are facing an immediate and unexpected gap in their access to nutritious meals. While families navigate these changes, we are activating our wonderful community to ensure this shift does not disrupt a single child’s day.
We believe every student deserves to be fully nourished and ready to learn. By rallying together, we can guarantee that all our children have the security and focus they need for successful days. We are here to bridge this gap immediately.
Our Immediate Emergency Plan
Thankfully, we have two incredible leaders already stepping up to bridge this gap: our dedicated Elementary Family Support Worker and the inspiring Melanin Poppin Team Leader.
They are launching an emergency campaign to ensure every student affected by this change has access to two crucial meals: a nutritious breakfast to start their day strong and a filling after-school snack to sustain them until they get home. This is our temporary lifeline while families navigate appeals and new applications.
But they can’t do it alone. We need our community to rally together to provide the resources necessary to keep this program running through the end of the semester.
How You Can Help Right Now
We need both physical supplies (to keep the snacks and breakfast items stocked daily) and financial donations (to purchase fresh produce, cover bulk grocery costs, and sustain the program).
